This week.

This week has been really, really good to me.

I needed that. Lately, it seems like life has been full of stress and you know what? It's gone. Work has calmed down and I've made it a point to do things that make me happy.

Like putting up the Halloween decorations and drinking hot cocoa.

Or splurging on a pretty necklace. Part of the proceeds go to breast cancer research, a cause that is very close to my heart.

Celebrating my sibling's accomplishments.

Mikayla and her very first college visit -to my alma mater.

Brandon and his new grown-up job. Congrats bub!

They're growing up and I'm excited to watch it happen.

And the cherry on top of what has been the most wonderful week?

Giuliana Rancic responded to my tweet (it was regarding that gorgeous necklace pictured above...she, along with designer Suzanna Dai, created the Live In Pink collection at LOFT).

I love her on E! news. I love her on Fashion Police. I love her on Giuliana and Bill. So... hashtag daymade.

Speaking of hashtags...watch this video. You're welcome.

I hope you all  have had a wonderful week! I will be spending my weekend with friends doing fun (non-spooky) Halloween activities!

Happy Friday!

Bye bye baby!

Internet, I have been living in an alternate reality.

Yesterday my sister was celebrating things like "smiley faces" at daycare.

Watching episodes of Blue Clues was her favorite pastime.

The day before that (Monday) I was in Miss Davis's 1st grade class when the school secretary came over the intercom and announced to the entire class that "Brittney Orr has a baby sister!"

The day Mikayla was born is a day I will never forget. I was so proud to be her big sister.

When she was 4 or 5, she decided that she wanted to change her name to "Shania" after Shania Twain. Oh how she loved Shania Twain.

I'm not sure when or how this happened but I discovered something yesterday.

My baby sister is no longer a baby.

I miss my Shania *sob*

In the past 48 hours she has had her braces removed and taken her senior pictures.

Hold me

This time next year she will be in college (probably having the time of her life). It doesn't seem possible.

Can you believe she was in 7th grade when I went off to college? SEVENTH GRADE!

I am not okay with this.

High Five for Friday

It's been ages since I've participated in a H54F link up! I wasn't even sure if Lauren still hosted them...I've had such a crazy/stressful week (all of it work-related)... I thought it might be nice to look back at some of the peaks.

Here we go!

1. This giant giraffe was at Ross, I think it would be darling in a Nursery decorated like this.

2.  'tis the season to eat soup!

Italian Chili-recipe pinned here

3. I came home to find pumpkins on my front steps. Best. Surprise. Ever! Aren't my friends the greatest?

4. Last night's episode of Glee, remembering Corey Monteith. I cried like a baby...but it was just what I needed. I've been stressed this week, very stressed, about things that don't matter. The episode was heart felt and I loved it.

5. I lurve my Pencil Shavings stationary! I accidently had it shipped to my old address and it finally made it's way home to the doll house this week! Swooning.

notebook, self-inking stamp, pencils

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! See ya next week!

My First October

Pinned here

When I saw this image (above), it made my heart sing. I don't know what it is about October but it is a magical time. The spicy aromas and vibrant colors are a lifeboat to my soul.

This October is extra special, my first fall in the doll house.

My first porch to decorate. The fairy tale pumpkins make me swoon.

...and I can't wait to start this game in my neighborhood.

I'm giddy with anticipation for the holiday season. The last three months of the year are coveted treasures. Time with family, cozy sweaters, comfort food...pure bliss.

So hello October, it's good to see you!
