We are on day three of gray and drizzly (weather).

Day three of bad hair.

Day three of the epic struggle to get out of bed in the morning because it’s physically impossible to wake up with the sound of rain against the window.

Day three of wishing fuzzy socks and pajamas were considered acceptable work attire.

However, this third day of perpetual laziness is also Friday. That means tomorrow I can stay in bed while listening to the rain in my fuzzy socks.

Sweet Jesus I can’t wait.

Also, Grey’s Anatomy is back!

So is Modern Family!

One-on-one time with my DVR is penciled into my schedule for tomorrow, somewhere between listening to the rain, reading a book, and sipping soup...

 and hot chocolate.

I can’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday (let’s just hope it’s still rainy…the prefect ambiance for my lazy day).

This week has been slow movin.

Although, I did get a lovely surprise from one of my coworkers Friends.

Who doesn’t love Halloween cookie cutters?

Oh! and remember a few weeks ago I mentioned that I was on the hunt for some new foundation? Well the search is over! Some of you suggested I try Bare Minerals. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and I love it!

Also, the people at MAC (in Dillards) let me exchange the used foundation for blush and lip gloss.

Isn’t that nice?

Well, there you have it folks…

The exciting life of Brittney Orr: fuzzy *Harry Potter* socks, DVR, cookie cutters, and make up.

I need to get out more.

Happy Friday!

September Birchbox

This month is my one year anniversary with Birchbox.

I can't believe I've been enjoying these darling packages for a year now.

If you don't have a Birchbox subscription, you are really missing out!

Okay so this month was pretty awesome.

I love the BVLGARI Mon Jasmin Noir perfume. It has a rich and luxurious smell that I can’t get enough of.

I find myself sniffing my wrists just to get another whiff.

I hope it has the same effect on men…

Also, I have this weird desire to put on some red lipstick and wear a mink coat with a bouffant hair style.

Don’t ask me why I correlate luxury with 60’s glam…I just do!

I've been watching too much Mad Men.

The ColorClub nailpolish would look fabulous with the red lipstick and mink. The metallic shine is so on trend with everything I’m seeing this fall.

The Fekkai Essential Shea Shampoo and Conditioner are wonderful. I love the way the conditioner felt in my hair. Unfortunately, I have a dry scalp (especially in winter) so I have to stick with my yucky Selsun Blue.

The brush guards are brilliant! I am definitely ordering more of these. When I think about how much I spend on brushes, it blows my mind that I didn’t think of this sooner! Way to go Birchbox!

The twistband hair ties are adorable but don’t work on my full head of hair. I think my hair actually laughed at me when I tried to tie it up.

However, they will be perfect for my “guest collection.”

I have a basket of unwanted Birchbox products for my guests to play with while they are visiting.

The Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm (BB cream) is okay. Although, I much prefer my Bare Essentials compact foundation.

Have I convinced you to sign up yet?

Don’t you wish you had all this amazing stuff to play with?

Well for $10 you can!!

A weekend with the boys

Meet my Brother, my Pappy, and my precious Daddy.

We all met up in the heart of our state (Norman, Okla.) for night of football.

My favorite part of the ENTIRE game is when the drum major struts (or does he kick?) his way down the field.

Its a tradition that has been around for years.

My Pappy said it has been around since before he can remember (That's a long time y'all).

I just love college football.

I'm a sucker for the rich traditions and since of pride amongst the crowd.

I love singing along to our state song with the band.

I loved the view from our seats.

I love it when the crowd holds up one finger during kick-off.

(I also love "There's Only One Oklahoma" video they play before each game...)

I love running into friends at the tailgate.

I love the fireworks when we score.

I also love the Sooner Schooner.

I love this old man who gave me silver and crimson beads.

He was there alone.

Melts my heart!

It also made me giggle when he cursed Landry Jones.

There was a lot of cussing, booing...

...and pouting.

Look at my brother root on the team. Isn't he cute?

He's single ladies!

Or at least he is on Facebook.

I didn't ask.

I'll be sure to ask him next time I see him.

If he is, I'll let ya know.

I had such a wonderful time with my best men.

I love them more than college football.

More than the strutting drum major.

More than the #1 fingers.

More than the old man and his beads.

High Five For Friday

Tomorrow marks the "official" first day of fall!

As usual, we are linking up with Lauren for High Five For Friday!

My vases are ready for fall!

I finally got my glasses. I have been miserable without them.

We had cupcakes at work! Aren't they adorable?

After nearly killing over at the gym, I treated myself to a pedicure
(I got the deluxe package y'all!)
It was pure bliss.

My Birchbox came in this week!
I love everything in it!
*Full review coming soon!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Awkward and Awesome!

-The other day, while traveling in a company vehicle (white Chevy Malibu), I decided to stop at a drugstore and get a snack. Upon leaving the store, I unlocked the car, opened the door and climbed in. I was a little alarmed to see someone else’s things in the car. I thought to myself “I don’t remember this stuff being in here earlier.” The next thing I knew, a lady was running straight toward me screaming at me to get out of her car!

Yep that’s right. I climbed into the wrong vehicle!

Of course I explained myself and she forgave me…Being the nice person that I am, I spared her the lecture about LOCKING YOUR DOORS!

I mean, if her door had been locked this whole thing could have been avoided. Sigh.

-Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned all the grunting men at my gym?

Well guess who’s picked up the habit?

Yours truly.

Yesterday my class was very small –only two of us showed up- so I basically got a private training session for free! However, this means that the trainer was able to give me his undivided attention. No longer are the days that I can slack off behind his back.

Towards the end of class, we were doing lunges holding 25 pound weights (It was unbearable).

I have no idea how it happened, but something came over me and I grunted! It was so embarrassing.

I looked at the trainer with wide eyes and he started laughing…It was a defining moment in my new life as a gym-member.

I decided that not only has my body been pushed to the limits, so has my ego.

To lift my spirits, I did the only think I could think of: I got a pedicure.

It totally worked.

-This carnival wedding.

-Hearing the ice cream truck pass by. The jingle always makes me smile.

-All the love I’ve gotten on Facebook this week. Kailea, Paige, and Chrissy, I’m talking to you. You ladies made me feel so loved and I can’t thank you enough for your kind words. Things have been a little tough lately and it’s just what I needed!

Hope you’re having an awesome week! Only one day left!

Purging my closet.

I keep getting the urge to clean out my closet y’all.

This “urge” to throw out clothes has been a reoccurrence for the past year now.

It’s really strange because normally I am extremely attached to my things.

(more than “attached,” I HATE sharing my clothes –with anyone –including family).

Giving away clothes, even loaning them out, has always been something that makes me cringe.

But one day it was like a light went off in my head: “Hey! I don’t need this stuff anymore!”

My poor sister has so many hand-me-downs, bless her heart. She takes everything I shove off on her. I have no clue if she actually wears it. But she always seems really excited to go through my things.

I’m still undecided if her “excitement” is genuine or she just doesn’t have the heart to tell me that my old crap is indeed “old” and out dated (because let’s face it, it is…)

I’ve also been selling my old clothes to Plato’s Closet (a re-sale shop, except they buy your stuff from you on the spot).

Last weekend I took them a couple pair of jeans, some shoes, a Vera Bradley purse, several hoodies…and you will never believe how much they gave me!

Isn’t that crazy! For a bunch of old stuff I would normally take to Goodwill!

Of course if you read my blog on Monday, you know what I did with the money…

So yesterday when I was catching up on the Pioneer Woman I about fell out of my chair when I read her post on cleaning out her closet.

I swear we are the same person!

except she can cook

and she wears cowgirl boots

and she is okay with living in the middle of nowhere

oh and she has a group of tiny people that call her “mom”

…but other than that I swear we are the same!

So she’s been doing a giveaway (every day this week) with the things she doesn’t want anymore!

Now if I could just figure out how to use the “rafflecopter thingy” and host one myself!

How about you? Do you ever get the urge to throw out all of your clothes and start over?

Weekend re-cap.

Every year, it seems as though fall arrives overnight.

One minute, its 100 degrees and you’re wearing as little clothing as possible; the next, it’s in the upper 70s and you’re sporting your favorite leggings (mine are from Target).

Last weekend Oklahoma officially welcomed fall. Football is in full swing, as are my jeggings. Everything outside is grey and misty.

Perfect weather for my beloved Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

Also, I’ve been bitten by the crafting bug and I foresee metallic gold pumpkins in my future.

Last weekend I took advantage of all the fall savings.

LOFT’s entire store was 40% off!

Check out my new babies:

I’ll be sure to take some photos when I finally get around to wearing them!

There’s something therapeutic about shopping, especially when it’s with someone you love.

My mom accompanied me this weekend. We had such a blast.

There’s nothing like one-on-one time with your momma.

With three siblings and a stepdad to compete with, alone time is valuable and hard to come by!

All in all, it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time.

I don’t know if it’s the change in weather, the beautiful additions to my closet, or time spent with my best friend, but I’m feeling pretty good today!

Happy fall everyone!

Awkward and Awesome

-The other day I went to Sonic during happy hour to get a large un-sweet tea with three packets of pink sugar (aka Sweet ‘n’ low). Their service was unusually fast; it seemed as though it took 30 seconds for them to make my drink and get it to my car.

I had just begun searching for my money when the carhop arrived.

Of course, it was about that time that I realized I didn’t have any money.

Read: I forgot my wallet.

(Switching purses at the last minute will do that to you)

She stood there while I frantically searched my car for spare change. I only found 8 cents.

I was mortified.

-Thinking my crockpot was made for travel because the lid latches down.

Apparently the cursed appliance has two tiny holes in the lid (I’m assuming this helps release moisture/steam?).

Upon hitting a pothole in the road, some of the soup managed to slosh out of the "itty bitty" hole and onto my arm. Scolding me. Nearly causing a car accident.

My car has smelled like tortilla soup for 3 days now.

Read: my car has smelled like onions for 3 days now.

-This month my gym is hosting a boot camp.

(Hell no! I’m not participating)

However the evening class, which is normally overcrowded and filled with unusually fit people, has substantially decreased in attendance. I think there are 4 of us who have decided to forgo the boot camp.

It’s kind of like having a personal trainer without having to pay!

I predict that by the time my classmates return from their boot camp festivities, we will be on an even playing field.

(okay that’s never going to happen)

Maybe I will (at least) be able to complete the workout.

...yes, I still can’t complete all of the exercises. It’s that hard!

-I'm off tomorrow!   Three day weekend here I come!

The grass isn’t always greener...

This time last year I was feeling very insecure about being out of college.  I missed my sorority sisters and I felt left out every time I saw a "party" picture on Facebook.

Also, it seemed as though most all of my friends were getting married and having babies (it still feels that way).

I was in a weird place. I wasn’t sure where I fit in. (I write that in “past tense” but honestly... I still get a little insecure about my current lifestyle) I’m not a college student, I’m not a wife, and I’m certainly not a mommy.

I know I’m not the only one going through this transitional phase.

So last weekend, I was a little apprehensive about attending sorority recruitment as an alumna. I was worried that I wouldn’t fit in, that I would feel left out or jealous of the younger girls. Or worse- jealous of the other alumni, who have their perfect families, complete with a “white picket fence.”

Boy was I wrong.

Not only did I not experience any of those feelings, I walked away feeling relieved.

Also, I felt proud of myself. I’m proud of the fact that I have a career (In my field of study!) and I’m not pinching pennies to survive.

It’s only been a year and a half since I walked across the stage to receive my diploma, and in that time I have experienced so much: a business trip to the National Museum of the American Indian, I sat courtside at Thunder vs. Lakers, traveled to NYC (by myself!), took several girl getaways, indulged in an ungodly amount of shopping, and I'm taking a ski trip this winter.

I ask myself, how much of that would have been possible if I had a husband and child to balance my time (and money) with? I think we all know the answer…it would have been hard.

And if I was still in college? None of those things would have happened.

All this to say, if you’re like me (unattached, single, no one to answer to) please don’t spend your days wishing you had a different life.

ENJOY yourself! Spend money! Buy those cute shoes! Take a trip somewhere! See the world!

You have your whole life ahead of you (I’ve heard that saying a thousand times in the last year…but it’s true).

Am I the only one constantly thinking about what other people have?

Sometimes I forget about the benefits that comes with being young, beautiful (refer to this post), and I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T!

Now, promise me you will remind me of this next time I start to feel down on myself! Okay?

Dino-mite Birthday Party

Last weekend was my nieces first birthday.

She had a "Dino-mite" (dinosaur) theme party, it was absolutely adorable.

I was so impressed! I couldn't resist sharing the pictures with you!

*Note, I had nothing to do with this party (other than spoiling my sweet baby girl with presents) ...her momma gets all the credit!

...Of course, my camera died after I took this picture.

I didn't get a single picture of the birthday girl!!

She had an adorable outfit to match the theme. It was just precious!

Can you believe all the streamers?

She said it took her 5 hours!

Thats just crazy. (It totally paid off Autumn!)

Anyway, I hope you had a "Dino-rrific" Monday!

...or a "Dino-mazing" Monday...

I wish you a "Dino-full" (this could work for delightful and wonderful!) Monday.

...I just hope your Monday wasn't "Dino-rrendous" (horrendous).

Okay I'll stop now.
