Is it just me??

Or does anybody else love trashy T.V. ? Last night’s Bachelor sent me over the edge! All the drama! All the nakedness!! I’m still in shock! Tonight is Dance moms…YAY! I love watching crazy women scream at each other in front of their 10-year-old daughters! So classy…and yet I can’t get enough!?

Is it just me?

Or does anybody else hate all the humidity? (Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this weather…beautiful!) But my hair looks like hell. Ew. I’ve been rockin the pony for two days now; this frizz is out of control! Also, I feel dirty! There’s nothing worse than feeling dirty (except maybe all the new blemishes that keep appearing). I feel like I need a shamwow just to get all the oil off my face! Yuck!

Is it just me?

Or does anybody else feel like throwing out their ENTIRE closet and starting over? From scratch. I’m not just talking a new wardrobe; I’m talking a whole new style! I’m talking a new you! New everything! This morning, I spent 30 minutes (30 MINUTES!) trying to figure out what to wear! You know what my problem is? I got the majority of my clothing while in college. It’s amazing how much my style has changed over the past 9 months. It’s probably because of my pinterest obsession and my blog stalking. (Insert pouty face here)

Is it just me?

Or does anybody else feel “DIY” challenged? I love everything I see on pinterest, I love doing crafts, I just can’t seem to put two and two together!

Is it just me?

Or does anybody else need want a glass of wine? Or maybe a stiff drink?

I thought so. Thanks for listening, you’re the best!

High Five For Friday

Today we are linking up with one of my favorite bloggers, Lauren, for High Five for Friday!

Here are my top five this week:

1. My new fashion role model, I mentioned her blog last week. The clothes (and pictures) are beautiful. I love that she has so many different styles. Also, she shops at some of my favorite stores: target, forever21...I love that she is a REAL girl on a REAL budget!

2. These DIY stripped magazine holders. I am a little obsessed with stripes right now (mostly for clothing) but I think something like this would be gorgeous in my home office.

3. The fact that my Brother, this guy:

Who used to look like this:

Is addicted to this:

4. I told you yesterday at my link party…*ahem*that no one participated in…I’m a loser…feel sorry for me now…moving on…that my best friend Alyssa is engaged! Well I forgot to mention one very important detail: I’m the Maid of Honor! EEEEK! Loving this customized planner I found on ETSY:

5. I am a member of a local organization:

Last night we had a “social” at East Central University. I attended a reception hosted by President Hargrove, I love that he has such a big vision for the future of Ada and has a passion for the arts. Following the reception we saw the Nobodies of Comedy.

Hilarious. I laughed so hard my stomach still hurts (you know the laugh... the one where you're laughing so hard that your body is shaking and no sound is coming out? Yeah, it was that good.)

Awkward and Awesome!

Last Thursday I wrote a post called Awkward and Awesome. I wrote about the awkward and awesome moments that happened throughout the week. It was a lot of fun! I decided it would make for a pretty entertaining link party!

I love linking up with all of you creative writers! I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!

Here are my most awkward and awesome moments from the week:

-Yawning at inappropriate times. I was in a meeting a couple of days ago and I couldn’t stop! I know I was offending every person in the room. I couldn’t help it!

-As I’m walking out of Wal-Mart (wearing my favorite pair of heels, a pencil skirt and a cute blouse), strutting my stuff like I own the place (wearing a great pair of heels is the best confidence booster ever), I accidentally kicked off my shoe! I had to hobble across the parking lot and bend over in my skirt to put it back on (balancing on one leg). Awkward.

-I was driving with a coworker across town, chatting about the day, I didn't even see the curb. It jumped out of nowhere!! When my car hit the curb we came upon a really slick puddle! We hydroplaned… she held on for dear life…she’s never getting in the car with me again.

-The curly cord attached to my office phone. It gets in the way when I try to hang up. I left a voicemail yesterday and when I went to hang up, the cord got in the way. After dropping the phone (which made a loud banging sound I’m sure) I hung up. I’m such a mess.

-My town has a self serve frozen yogurt place! (you have no idea how awesome this is for our town! This place just got 10X better!)

-I found a little solution to my inability to have great photos (no sadly it’s not a new camera...). I joined Instagram (see above photo). So much fun and now I’m going to have better pics on here!

-I finally broke down and scheduled an appointment with the eye doctor. Maybe I will get some cute glasses like these:

-The rain. It’s so soothing and sounds amazing against my window. I slept so good last night.

-My bestie (and college roommate), Alyssa, is ENGAGED. I can’t believe she is getting married! I finally have an excuse to look at wedding stuff on Pinterest! Yay!

Calling all (women, sorry boys) Bloggers!

New/experienced…young/old…professional/personal…mommies/not mommies…students too!

No matter the topic, you need to know about an event coming up!

BlogHer 12 blogging conference! (Btw I wasn’t asked or paid to mention this…I’m just excited about it so I thought I’d share.)

BlogHer '12

Because I’m new to the blogging community, there’s so much I don’t know. I’ve been searching for a conference or workshop to attend and came across this one. Originally, I was hoping to find something locally (or at least within driving distance) but when I saw the location for the BlogHer 12 conference, my heart skipped a beat.

Are you ready for this…Pack your bags girls! We’re going to the Big Apple! That’s right! New.York.City!

If you've never been to New York, let me just tell you, you are missing out! It is so amazing! You have to go!

This conference has something for everyone, which is rare because most of the conferences I found are for professional bloggers, mommy bloggers, techies, food blogs and fashion blogs, pretty much everything BUT personal/lifestyle bloggers.

They have an early bird special, discounted registration fees (nearly cuts the cost in half) that closes February 28th. They have student rates, company rates, sponsor options…check it out!

Besides learning great tools and improving your bog, it is a fabulous networking opportunity! They will host a cocktail party each night where you will be able to meet and mingle with other bloggers.
I am totally going to this conference! I will also be attending several Broadway shows, shopping on fifth ave. and eating myself sick at fabulous restaurants!

If you are interested in attending and would like to coordinate travel/hotel/entertainment (because let’s face it, I’m a big weenie and am a little nervous about traveling and experiencing NYC alone.)

Hit me up:

In other news, Awkward and Awesome Thursday link party is coming tomorrow!

Last week I did a little “test run” on this post topic. I got the idea from another blogger and really enjoyed it! After receiving some positive feedback, I have decided to do my very first link party!
Please link up tomorrow and share your most awkward/awesome moments of the week! I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!

Your to do list:

  • Write your Awkward/Awesome Thursday post!

“See ya” tomorrow!

Oklahoma Sky

This picture (taken with my phone) doesn’t do it justice.

I was up early this morning and watched the sunrise. The earth was so calm and quiet. Which is exactly what I needed this Monday morning, it eliminated every ounce of dread for the week to come and it made me think deep thoughts.

I thought about how awesome God is for creating this landscape, I thought about how I need to do this getting up and watching the sunrise thing more often, I thought about my sister, who is probably at the DMV in line to take her driving test and I thought about how much I wish I had a better camera to capture these moments.

Also, I felt as though I was having a “Pioneer Woman” moment. Refer to this post to figure out what I’m talking about.

Take some time to enjoy the world around you…its pretty awesome!

Sweet 16

I am so bad at keeping secrets.

This weekend was my sisters 16 birthday and we threw her a surprise party. Oh boy did I struggle to keep it hush hush!

She thought she was going on a romantic date with her boyfriend, little did she know, we were all waiting for her at Pinkitzle.

Of course, being the clumsy/nervous person that I am, I accidentally let it slip…MORE THAN ONCE. We were shopping for her outfit to wear on her “date” and I kept asking “Do you think this would be cute for your party?” (I said it three times!) she finally asked me why I kept saying party and I responded with “Did I say party? …I mean date!!” I felt sick the entire week leading up to her party.

The day of her party was a whirl wind. We went shopping, we did hair and makeup (the entire time I’m on egg shells, focusing on every word that came out of my mouth). Once she left we had 30 minutes to get dressed and in the car.

We arrived at the party 15 minutes before she did. I was a wreck. I did the only thing I know how to do when I’m stressed. I bossed people around.

I told her friend to text Mark (Mikaylas boyfriend) and find out how far they are and to make sure he will let us know when they arrive.

I made sure no one stood in the doorway (I didn’t want the birthday girl to see her friends before we scream surprise!)

I gathered up all the purses in the doorway and moved them to a hidden area.

I kept my brother away from the chocolate covered strawberries.

It was complete chaos (well not really it just seemed that way because I was nervous. I wanted everything to be perfect. I wanted her to be surprised, I wanted everyone to scream surprise, I wanted to get it on video...I was a mess.)

Five minutes before Mikayla is supposed to arrive, her friends realized that they parked their car by the front door where she could see it. They decided to move it and of course Mikayla arrived while they were gone, there were only 5 or 6 friends present to yell surprise.

I got it on video…take a look. (oh yeah, try to figure out what’s missing)

That's right. No sound! Ahhhhhh! (Imagine me pulling my hair out!) Why can't anything go like it's supposed to? I think one of her friends got it with sound but I still haven't been able to get a hold of it.
Here are the pics from her party:

We had such a great time, she was so surprised!
Prayers for her tomorrow as she takes her test!
Happy Birthday Mikayla!  I love you!!

Here is my top five for the week:

1. My new reading glasses (I’m such an old lady)

2. Award show season! I love watching all of the Red Carpets and  picking out my favorite dresses:

3. This adorable end table I picked up at TJmaxx. See the wicker storage bins? Perfect for storing hats and gloves this winter.

4. Saw this on Pinterest

So true ladies.

5. Celebrating my Sisters sixteenth birthday with her this weekend. I can’t believe she is old enough to drive (and go on dates).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Surprise! Surprise! I’ve been inspired by another blogger, Sydney from the Day Book blog (who has the most beautiful clothing and pictures. I would die to trade closets with her…) She does a weekly post called “Awkward and Awesome Thursdays.” I’ve been considering doing it on my blog but haven’t pulled the trigger because I hate being a copy cat.

Well after the week I’ve had, I’m pulling the trigger! *Note*this may or may not become a weekly post..I haven't decided.

Here is my Awkward and Awesome Thursday:

-The moment I let my anger get the best of me (at 1:30 am)  I beat down my neighbors door (the one I wrote about here) and chewed her out for being too loud, told her I had to be up at 6 and asked her to keep it down. She agreed to keep it down (after telling me she can hear me too!) Of course, our little talk had the opposite effect, she got louder.

-Using a public bathroom and making eye contact with a stranger through the cracks of the stall! Really…give me some privacy please!

-Having to increase the font size from 12 to 16 so I can see what I’m typing because I'm too scared of the eye doctor (they put stuff in your eyes! Ew.) to do anything about it.

-Spending an entire evening working on my first vlog (video blog), posting the finished product at 10:30, then (because I’m shy) deciding the next morning (at 7) to delete it. Only to regret deleting it later that day after receiving some positive feedback from my Mom (who’s opinion shouldn’t count BECAUSE SHE’S MY MOM and has to like what I do!)

-A few months ago when I got my eyebrows butchered at the salon inside Wal-Mart (which I should have known better to use). I have been coloring them in and now they are growing back, to the point of being out of control…I’m too scared to get them waxed again. What to do what to do?

-Saying “I love YouTube” after watching a funny video and my boss thinking I told her “I love you too…” Which is less awkward, telling your boss you were watching YouTube or telling her you love her?

-Accidentally hitting my coworkers butt when I was reaching for something next to her…She backed into my hand! Please don’t accuse me of sexual harassment!

-My friend Brooke who is going to help me look for a place to rent (see awkward #1)
-The mini heater under my desk that works wonders for my feet!

-My workout partners Kyle and Nicole, that guilt me into going to the gym everyday

-Me and my Mom’s shared love for Dance Moms. We watched the all day marathon from separate cities… texted the entire time and talked on the phone during the commercials…yes we are the same person.

-The fact that I’m no longer a teenager and I don’t have to hear “Because I am the Mom and you are the child!” Sorry Mikayla! I know how you feel! It took me all of high school and most of college to figure out that you’re better off just doing what she says. (If momma’s not happy, no one’s happy!)

I wish this was a link party! Wouldn’t it be fun?

Redeeming Love, my thoughts...and my cast list!

A couple weeks ago, when I participated in High Five for Friday, I mentioned that I was reading Redeeming Love.

Well I finished it last weekend! I couldn’t put it down… I stayed up until 3 am reading!! I’ve had a love hate relationship with this book. At times I wanted to call my friend Susan and ring her neck for recommending it! Other times, I caught myself grinning from ear to ear. It was the most heart wrenching love tale I’ve read in a long time.

It was written by a Christian Author, Francine Rivers. It is inspired by the book of Hosea from the Bible. It takes place in the 1850’s in California. It’s about a young girl, Sarah, who was rejected by her father and (after the death of her mother) sold to prostitution at the age of 8 (again I wanted to KILL Susan! I was cursing her name!). Sarah, Known as Angel, had a terrible childhood; she grew into a bitter young woman dealing with the constant fear of hurt and betrayal.

Michael Hosea, a farmer (a Godly man, maybe even a prophet), fell in love with Angel the minute he laid eyes on her. Following God’s orders, he marries Angel and promises to love her till the day he dies. (At the time of their wedding she is badly hurt and had no choice but to marry him).

The bulk of the book is about his dedication to her and determination to break through her walls. He treats her like no man ever has. With the help of the Altman family, he tries to show her that there is good in the world…and that’s all I’m going to tell you!

For those of you who haven’t read this, stop what you are doing and get this book. It is awesome. And that’s all I’m going to say…okay not really, get the book!

I can’t get this book out of my mind! I want to find a Man like Michael Hosea, someone who loves with all his heart, who isn’t afraid to be tender and vulnerable, who trusts in God and lives his life to please him.

So I did what any normal girl would do who is obsessed with a book and can’t watch the movie (because there isn’t one. Can someone please do something about that?)…With the help of my friend Susan, I cast the book! If anyone wants to make a movie please feel free to use this as a reference!

Michael Hosea: Gerard Butler

Angel: Rachel McAdams

Mae, Angel’s mother: Nicole Kidman

Alex Stafford, Angel’s father: Rufus Sewell

Duke(Villan): Robert Downey Jr.

Paul (Michael’s friend who is such a jerk!): James McAvoy

Miriam Altman (Angel’s best friend): Emmy Rossum

Elizabeth Altman (Miriam’s mother and Angels “mother figure”): Emily Watson

Ruth Altman (Miriam’s sister who adores Angel): Maggie Elizabeth Jones

What do you think? Do you agree? Do you have other people in mind? Please let me know! I’m not convinced my casting choices are the best…

January Birchbox

This month’s Birchbox was pretty good! It came a little later than normal but was totally worth the wait!

What is Birchbox? Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscirption. They deliver luxe (name brand) beauty samples to your door each month! For $10 a month, you get access to the latest and greatest beauty products for hair, skin and nails. This is my fourth box and I couldn't be happier with the service. It is something I look forward to every month!

My box included:

Viva La Juicy

This perfume smells very rich, has slight hint of Vanilla. I am wearing it today and I really like it. It’s a good winter scent.

VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Lotion

It is an “all over” lotion (face, hands, body) that doesn’t have artificial fragrances, dyes, or preservatives.

ORIGINS Checks and Balances™ Frothy Face Wash

This face wash is for combination skin (which makes me so happy! It is a sign that they really do send me products based on my beauty profile!) It is a foaming cleanser that balances oil production while softening dry areas. I used it for the first time last night…we will see how I like it in a week or so.

stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner

Okay, this was not your average sample! It looked like full size eyeliner. The color is peacock. I was hesitant at first so I decided to wear it over my black eyeliner. It looked gorgeous! It has a slight shimmer and would be perfect for a night out!

LĂ„RABAR Mini Bars

It’s very similar to a granola bar. It is made with dried fruits, nuts and spices. I tried this and couldn’t eat it. It tasted like a crunchy raisin. I let my Dad try it and he didn’t like it either. But if you like raisins, this is the snack for you!

If you’re interested in learning more about Birchbox click here.

P.S. I Hope you all had a lovely weekend (mine was three days so it was amazing)!
