Wizards Gala Part 1- outdoors!

The party on Saturday was AWESOME!!!

There were so many decorations that I decided to split the blog into three parts.

Also, I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures! I'm not very good with cameras!

Let me take you on the tour of what we did outside:

This Whomping Willow sign was in the front next to the tree.

The 9 3/4 sign was in the entry way.

In the back we did Hagrid's Hut. It was very cool at night! We had a fire and lots of candles!

Do you remember the dragon egg from the Globet of Fire?

I hope you enjoyed part one!  Click below for part 2 & 3!

Part 2

Part 3

Pinteresting Stuff!

I wish this was my hair style today!

Scarfs, my favorite look this fall!

Mustard, loving this color.

Totally supporting the chalkboard paint trend. This menu is fabulous!

This is just too cute! Can't go wrong with a random act of kindness.

I was really wanting to do "5 pinteresting things" but then I saw this wreath. I think I might spruce up one of mine with a B!

Monday Must Have

I love Halloween, the colors, the candy, the costumes and most of all the movies!

I do enjoy a scary movie every now and then, but there is something about watching a scary movie on Halloween that makes me giddy!

I’m not just a fan of scary movies; I’m also a fan of cheesy hallo-weenie movies!

My favorite:

I watch this movie every year! I have ABC Family’s 13 Days of Halloween to thank for that!

I love having something to look forward to, tonight it’s curling up with my Wine-A-Rita and watching Hocus Pocus! It’s the small things in life!

So todays must have:

I know kinda very cheesy but it is so true. Traditions give us something to be excited about. Something we can count on every year!

Even if you don’t celebrate Halloween, I’m sure you have a tradition that you recognize during the harvest season.

I hope your evening is safe and enjoyable!

Happy Halloween!

Party like a Potter!

I am BESIDE myself with excitement for tomorrow!

I will be attending a Halloween Party. Wait! It gets better!

The party is HARRY POTTER THEMED! (Insert happy dance here)

I have spent the last few weeks helping my friend Susan plan this fabulous soiree. We have completely turned her house into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It has taken countless all nighters and hours of preparation!

That is part of the reason why I have been preoccupied this week and neglected this here blog.

Did I mention that the party is a costume party?

It has been almost impossible for me to come up with a costume. I don’t look like ANY of the characters and it is been hopeless finding Gryffindor colors (in a scarf and tie).

So while at Goodwill (where I bought the bulk of my costume) I stumbled upon a green tie.

I have decided to go as a Slytherin student...their colors are green and silver.

After purchasing the green tie I found this:

The Slytherin description reads:
A Slytherin demonstrates ambition, cunning, leadership, resourcefulness, and pure wizard blood.

I think that describes me! (Except for the pure wizard blood thing!)

So tomorrow should be fun.

Pictures are coming soon! Stay Tuned!

Blogger Blues

I know I have been MIA this week…and I really really want to be able to post every day but…my life is crazy!

Also, my life isn’t that interesting!

My “normal” day:

There isn’t a funny story to tell about my kids, pets or husband because those things don’t exist in my life.

So I am struggling. I don’t have anything interesting to write about on a daily basis.

I have spent a lot of time reading articles about tips for bloggers. All the tips include: posting every day, oops. Having a theme (does my life count?), oops. Being original, oops.

The blogs that inspire me are all about home decor, organizing, DIY and so on. I don’t have enough time to tackle big DIY projects. Although, I have a list of 5-6 DIY projects that I’ve bought supplies for and haven’t finished.

By the time I get out the craft supplies, do the project and clean up it’s after midnight! Did I mention I have to be up at 6:30 a.m.!

I know you are probably thinking: you live alone; you don’t have any responsibilities outside of work, what about the time you spend watching TV?

Here is my answer: I cook every night because I’m trying to meet a goal weight and eating healthy is a must! Cooking takes time y’all!

Also, I love my job but it can be exhausting!

Bottom line: I like to wind down in the evening.

I love my blog! I love the people that read it! I guess I’m just working through my guilt from neglecting it this week.

Thanks for listening to my soapbox.

Monday Must Have

Today was a crazy day at the office! I can't think of a better item for my Monday Must Have...

If you like wine and you like frozen beverages you will love this!!

Wine-A-Ritas is a drink mix! All you do is combine the package of mix with a cup and 1/2 of white wine! Then just add ice and blend.

It comes in these flavors:

• Wine glacé
• Berry Pom-A-Rita
• Señorita
• Cosmorita
• Peach Bellini

Unfortunately there isn't a giant store (walmart, target, SAMs) that carries them. I get my Wine-A-Ritas from a local shop in Durant,Okla.

You can find a store near you here.

Pictured below is the Peach Bellini!

I already feel relaxed!

Happy Monday!

Fall Fever

It seems like this time of the year is filled with sickness.

Today FOUR people in my office were out sick. It’s like an epidemic! They (all of them) have some kind of stomach virus.

Also, my dad has pneumonia (and I think my step mom is on the verge of having it herself!) Prayers are needed their way. They work so hard and rarely get to rest! I worry about their recovery.

“Sick” has been the common theme in my life this week. I feel great (thank goodness) but it’s only a matter of time before I have to deal with the coughing and sneezing.

Due to my phobia of getting sick, I drank and entire bottle of a dissolved Airborne tablet! Yuck! I forgot how nasty those things are!

Just a friendly reminder to wash your hands and keep healthy!

Flu season is upon us!

On that note, I think I shall get a flu shot tomorrow.

…And maybe a mask to wear at work.

Tonight I had a dinner date with my Daddy!

We had a very yummy dinner that included two screaming kids, a domestic dispute at the table next to ours and a crazy (nosey) old man who wore goggles and suspenders.

Dad calls this a Threek because a fork has four prongs!

He is so funny! Even when we are surrounded by awkwardness!

Monday Must Have

For the Face!

Let’s try a new weekly ritual. I’m getting a little touch of writers block and need some motivation. On Mondays I will do a “Monday Must Have” and write about the things I couldn’t live without!

Today’s Monday Must have:

Almay moisturizing eye makeup remover (pads).

One word: Amazing!

I have been using this product for YEARS! It will get ANY waterproof gook, gunk, glop off of your eyes! It takes your makeup off so easily without pulling out your lashes -Which is very important ladies!

You can find it at any drugstore/walmart/target/ulta

Do yourself a favor and try it!

My First Birchbox!

My Birchbox is here! My Birchbox is here!!

Finally! After an entire month of waiting, my monthly treat has arrived!!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about click here.

So this is what I saw in my mailbox:

On this card there was a description and price list of all the products that were included in my box.

The AHAVA mineral foot cream is amazing! My feet felt like silk after using it before bed last night!

This colorescience pro sunforgettable mineral powder is a perfect match to my skin tone! It is very lightweight and is SPF 30. The jar in this photo is about the same size as my bare essentials. The blue packets next to it are Deborah Lippmann stripper-to-go nail polish remover. It’s portable and mess free. I will keep them in my purse in case of an emergency polish change!

This Kissable Couture lip gloss is a new color for me. I normally choose a color in the pink or red family. I wore it at work today and my coworkers approved!

My last goodie, the oribe shampoo and conditioner. It smells AMAZING! Very rich and luxurious. I blow-dried my hair and it was silky smooth. I really liked it!

I can’t wait for the November Birchbox!

You HAVE to do this with me!

It was so great getting a little surprise in the mail!

Vase fillers: Hobby Lobby
Giant spider: Hobby Lobby
adorable coaster: click here

I'm already planning my Christmas table, I refuse to have another tacky table!

My thoughts

Hello everyone!

I think this is the first time in my ENTIRE blogger history that I have posted on a Saturday (which isn’t saying much because I haven’t been a blogger for very long!)

I just thought I would share a few things with you:

1.Last night I had a dream that I was a famous blogger. People would stop me on the streets and tell me they read my blog! It was really random, but it’s had me thinking about how much I love blogging and how I wish I had more time to focus on it. Even though I’m not famous and only close friends and family (Hi poppa!) read this, it has become such a great release for me. So thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read it!

2.I also love reading other blogs. In the last month or so, I have realized that there are “professional bloggers” …people that actually get PAID to blog (or maybe they are just a new generation of stay home moms?)! I think this phenomenon is the reason for my dream last night. Wouldn’t it be nice if all you had to worry about ALL DAY LONG is what to blog about! Think of all the DIY projects, crafts and fun girl stuff we could be doing. Oh well. I do love being around other people so I would get lonely if it was just me and my computer all day long.

3.Because I’m at home, I have been cozying up with my precious little baby. His name is Kosmo.

4.I got him in 6th grade for making straight A’s. It took me YEARS to talk my mom into getting a puppy. Now, she loves kosmo more than us! Just 30 minutes ago we were sitting on the porch and my sister came outside to join us. Just as she was sitting down my mom says “don’t sit there that’s Kosmo’s chair!” Yes our dog has his OWN human-sized chair outside! My mom even has his bed in their bedroom! This might not mean much to you but did I mention that we weren’t allowed to sleep in her room growing up! I will give you one guess to who is on the background on her phone. Hmmm…I wonder which child is her favorite!?

5.I’m beyond excited about Monday. Mom and I are both off work and we are spending the day together! We will be going to the new outlet mall and the nail salon. It’s girl heaven. I cant wait.

6.Have a good weekend!

p.s. BOOMER!

Best Friends Forever

You will never guess what happened to me today!

I was sitting at my desk when a man walked through the door holding the most beautiful arrangement of flowers. Sigh. I know I probably had this “are you *bleeping* kidding me” look all over my face. The last thing I need is to watch another woman receive beautiful flowers from her husband. I mean really, who is going to send me flowers? It’s not Valentine’s Day (so that counts out my dad), it’s not my birthday and I don’t have a boyfriend/man-friend/husband to be spoiled by.

So imagine my SHOCK when he said “Is there a Brittney Orr at this office?” I practically fell out of my chair! What is going on! Can pigs fly? Has hell frozen over?? Because it totally blows my mind that someone thought of ME for absolutely NO reason and decided to send flowers!

This is what the card said:

Thanks for being such a great best friend,
I miss you, Love Alyssa

Alyssa is one of the only two people in this entire world that TRULY knows me. Every dark secret, embarrassing moment (ahem 2 weeks ago Alyssa), every boy crush, she knows about it. She is my partner in crime, my biggest fan, she is my best friend.

Alyssa is the first person I met at college. Freshman year was probably definitely my favorite year of college and every single memory includes her. We did some CRAZY things that I can’t write about on here (in fear that my future children might read this…or worse, my mother)

She has been there in my hardest times. Can you believe this girl drove for HOURS to see me the day I lost my Grammy!

She hosted my 21st birthday party (and invited the ENTIRE school to our house!), she went with me to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter (she’s not a fan), she went to my freshman dance recital (ALONE) when my parents couldn’t be there, she met me at the gym EVERY morning at 6 a.m. senior year when I was trying to lose weight (and thanks to her I did!).

Now that we have both graduated and transformed into successful career women we never get to see eachother. Although, we do have a weekly ritual of a 5:00 phone call that keeps us strong!

I miss her so much! I can’t believe I have survived this long without the adventures of Brittney and Alyssa.

Thank you for the flowers. It brought tears to my eyes!
I love you!

Brittney goes to Canton!

Last weekend was a complete whirlwind!

I went on a 24 hour road trip that included some the best shopping. EVER.

After a night in a raggedy hotel (yes there were bugs and mold in the bathroom), we woke up (before the sun) and headed to the Canton Trade Days.

It was so overwhelming! There had to be thousands of vendors and booths. They sold everything under the sun!

Once we swallowed our initial shock, we began the impossible quest of conquering Canton.

I ended up buying a lot less than I originally expected. I was in over my head y'all! I saw pretty stuff everywhere I turned. I would see something I liked but talk myself out of it thinking: “there are still so many booths! What if I find something better??” Of course that thought process was an endless cycle so I left with hardly anything!

My first purchase was this cute Halloween book. It was a spontaneous/quick decision. I thought it was precious and I really need more fall décor.

It looks so cute on my coffee table!

My second (and most favorite) purchase is this wall shelf.

I’m so excited to have this for my kitchen. I love that I have another place to display some trinkets!

I am sooo proud of this lamp!

I saw this sitting on a table that was marked 50% off. It was originally $100. Fifty dollars is still more than I wanted to spend and the lamp shade was damaged. I brought the lamp to the vendor & pointed out the poor quality of the shade and asked how much she would sell it for. She told me she would give it to me for $30. I accepted her price and when I went for my cash I was short 4 dollars. I asked if she would take my card and she wouldn’t! I then proceeded to ask her if she would sell it for $26 and she hesitated. Next, the best thing happened: her husband turned around and said “yes she will!” haha I was smiling ear to ear! She rolled her eyes and took my cash. I can’t believe I saved SEVENTY FOUR DOLLARS!

Okay so this candle holder is going to get a makeover.

I saw these wooden candles everywhere! They sold them by the hole; some wooden blocks had up to 12 holes! I thought since this is an experimental project, we will play it safe and stick to one. I am going to Mod Podge some cute scrapbook paper on the sides and put it in my kitchen.

My last purchase is this amazing vintage-looking Christmas sign.

I have a confession… this wasn’t purchased at Canton. I found it at the Homegoods store in Allen. We don’t have Homegoods in Oklahoma so I had to stop! I can’t wait to put it up (along with all my other Christmas decorations!)

We are all very happy with our goodies! (and NO that ugly truck is not ours!)
